PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND (U.S.) & ADELAIDE, SA (AUSTRALIA) - December 03, 2008 - GTECH Corporation and South Australia Lotteries (SA Lotteries) today announced a seven-year partnership that will allow for the provision of a new central lottery system and terminals, self-service products, and ongoing support services in South Australia.  The contract term is for seven years following the start-up of operations under the new GTECH system, includes three additional one-year extension options, and follows a competitive procurement.  SA Lotteries has been a valued customer of GTECH since 1984.  GTECH expects to receive revenues of approximately US$12 million over the seven-year term, commencing in the second quarter of 2010.

“We have a deep appreciation for and are proud of our 24-year partnership with South Australia Lotteries,” said GTECH President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel.  “SA Lotteries is one of Australia’s most progressive lotteries, with an excellent track record as a highly-successful Keno operator, and we are privileged to be given the opportunity to work even more closely with them over the next seven years to energize lottery sales to continue providing vital funds for South Australia’s public hospitals.”

SA Lotteries Chief Executive June Roache said the organization is looking forward to building on an existing successful partnership to develop the lottery system of the future.

“We look forward to working with GTECH to deliver a system with enhanced functionality to enable SA Lotteries to meet the expectations of South Australian players over the next decade,” Ms. Roache said.  “GTECH’s innovative system solution and state-of-the-art equipment will provide a flexible platform for SA Lotteries to deliver a remarkable point-of-sale experience on both sides of the retail counter while facilitating sales of Lotto, Oz Lotto, Powerball, Instant Scratchies, fast-draw Keno, Super 66, and The Pools.”

Under the terms of the contract, GTECH will convert SA Lotteries’ existing system to GTECH’s Enterprise Series™ (ES) solution and will replace the existing terminal base with 750 new lottery terminals.  In addition, the Company will deploy its ES MultiMedia display technology throughout SA Lotteries’ retailer network.  The Company will also install 800 Ticket-Scan™ units, GTECH’s self-service ticket checkers allowing players secure access when identifying winning tickets, as well as supplying handheld bar scanners offering convenient portable scanning of instant lottery tickets.  GTECH will also provide the functionality to support SA Lotteries’ advanced player registration system, allowing players to continue to store their regular wagers on the central system.

Since its inception in 1967, SA Lotteries has contributed more than AUS$1.9 billion to provide, maintain, develop, and improve South Australia’s hospitals.
