The WLA Responsible Gaming Principles and Framework
As WLA members, our duties are not only to increase sales and returns to good causes but to facilitate responsible play. In 2006, the WLA adopted seven Responsible Gaming Principles and a Responsible Gaming Framework (RGF) aimed at protecting lottery players around the world. Member lotteries are committed to these seven principles and to adhering to the framework. The framework is an internationally recognized certification program which helps lotteries assess their responsible gaming programs and to keep them on a course of continuous improvement. This effort and commitment ensures not only that our public is protected but also that the revenues are sustained for the public good.
The WLA Security Control Standard
The WLA Security Control Standard is a comprehensive set of controls and standards for lottery operators, including compliance with the ISO/IEC 27001 Standard for information security management systems.
Certification to this standard will verify your risk management strategies and processes.
It also clearly demonstrates to your stakeholders that you have effective security that they can trust and to national and state regulators that you are committed to measurable security, integrity and compliance with independent accreditation.
WLA best practice marketing and communications guidelines
The WLA executive committee has now established and formally approved a marketing and communications guideline, which may be implemented as a globally recognized standard. Key elements from similar guidelines already in use by 11 major lotteries were instrumental in the development of this document. Prior to approval, the draft guidelines were also circulated to a number of WLA members. Marketing and communications specialist from these member lotteries formed a working group, which provided additional feedback. The resulting document is the culmination of their effort.
WLA RFP standard
To streamline the lottery procurement process, which is notoriously costly and time consuming, the WLA has worked with NASPL, operators, suppliers and independent consultants to develop a Best Practice for lottery RFPs. The Global RFP Best Practice provides comprehensive guidance and standardization of lottery procurements while fully accounting for the legislation in the respective lottery's jurisdiction. Following the Best Practice will make it simpler, faster and cheaper to develop a successful RFP, obtaining responsive proposals and conduct the evaluation of those proposals.
WLA sales reports
The WLA sales reports are based on figures provided by WLA members. Statistics are calculated on a quarterly basis and converted into US dollars using the end-of-quarter rate of exchange. Reports are available for three, six, nine and twelve month intervals.
