Lausanne, 14 November 2018: The Global Lottery Monitoring System (GLMS) and the European Union’s law enforcement agency, Europol, signed today in The Hague a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement will see the two entities share information and be in constant consultation over sport competition manipulations and related organised crime investigations. GLMS and Europol will also cooperate in running joint activities and implementing relevant projects, notably in the field of education and capacity building.

On May 16 Switzerland on May 16 became the 5th state that ratified the Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sport Competitions, following the ratifications of Norway, Portugal, Ukraine and Moldova. The Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions, also known as the Macolin Convention, will now officially enter into force on 1 September 2019.

Lausanne, 5 December 2018, GLMS published today its Code of Conduct. The Code applies to everyone engaged with the GLMS family, including members (individual and associate), partners, employees and Executive Committee Members. The Code was unanimously adopted by the GLMS membership base at the GLMS General Meeting in Buenos Aires on November 20. Although the Code might not address every issue that might arise, it seeks to provide a solid foundation for making good decisions.

GLMS welcomes the U.S. Supreme Court decision regarding sports betting and recalls the importance of measures against manipulations of sport competitions and illegal betting
Lausanne, 30 May 2018, The U.S. Supreme court ruled on May 14 that states themselves should have the right to regulate and tax sports betting, and considered it unconstitutional for the federal government to ban them from doing so. The court’s decision came in the case of Christie vs. the National Collegiate Athletic Association, a challenge by New Jersey to the federal Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA), which banned all states outside of Nevada from offering single-event sports betting. Three other states -- Montana, Oregon and Delaware -- were allowed to offer limited forms of betting under PASPA.

KCOOS+ Project GLMS and Lotteries join forces with the Council of Europe and key stakeholders to keep crime out of sport
Strasbourg, 9 March 2018: The project Keep Crime out of Sport+ (KCOOS+) was officially launched today in Strasbourg. Following the success of the KCOOS project which sought to promote the Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sport Competitions and support states with the implementation of its provisions, the CoE together with key partners and stakeholders, including the INTERPOL, the Lotteries (GLMS-EL-WLA), Ethisport, RC3 and Partners and a number of states, including France, Switzerland, Norway, and Cyprus, launched today the follow-up project which will seek to go even deeper and further and have a world-wide impact.
