Challenges on the horizon – Be prepared!

18 Oct – 20 Oct 2016
Location: Málaga, Spanien
Category: Seminars

Seminar in cooperation with the European Lottery Association

Security, in particular cybersecurity, is focussed on threats that are moving targets, constantly evolving and necessitating appropriate vigilance, c o u n t e r m e a s u r e s , and r egular u pdating o f r esponses in information and operational security. Current industry security reports (Cisco and Dell) highlight the widespread lack of resource budgets and the absence of any real top level management commitment – both of which seriously affect security professionals in their ability to defend their systems against attack. According to Cisco 2016 report, 65% of respondents do not trust their security systems.

The 2016 joint EL/WLA Security and integrity Seminar to be held in Malaga 18 – 20 October 2016 will address how to approach potential weaknesses in lottery processes, procedures and systems. The main focus of the Seminar is to heighten awareness of the next wave of challenges on the horizon, and to inform participants about the controls and tools that can help security practitioners to ensure their Lotteries remain protected and safe environments. These tools include the updated WLA Security Standards which will be presented to the WLA General Assembly for approval in November 2016. As always, the best approach is to learn from the real life experience of other Lottery companies in their implementation of the Security Standards.

The Seminar will also address security implications of digital transformation technologies such as Big Data, Cloud, BYOD and network dependency, among others.

Other important changes are on the horizon resulting from the 4th Anti-Money-Laundering Directive and the new General Data Protection Regulation that will impact on the security design and operations of Lotteries in Europe.

Do you know what new controls and protection you will need to implement?

Should you have your own Data Protection Officer?

What is a Privacy Impact Assessment and when will it be needed?

Come to Malaga in October to share experience and knowledge with external professionals, experts from the lottery supplier/partner companies and, most importantly, from your lottery colleagues – security professionals with years of practical and relevant experience.

It will not be just about listening – there will be a special workshop and plenty of time for discussion and exchange of ideas and experiences of best practices from all over the world!
