GLMS President presents threats and opportunities to US Lotteries
Cleveland, 27 September 2018, GLMS President, Ludovico Calvi, attended from 25-27 September 2018 the Conference of the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) in Cleveland, US. Ludovico joined a high level discussion on Sports Betting post PASPA repeal.
Ludovico highlighted GLMS full support for regulated, responsible and sustainable betting market environments since prohibition have often only favoured the proliferation of black markets, criminal orgs and, as a result, sport competition manipulations.
He presented threats and opportunities for the Lotteries in connection to the world of sport and the need to effectively join the legalisation process and play a key role in the definition of sustainable regulatory frameworks. Ludovico claimed that thanks to regulated sports betting, 2018 will be a turning point for the evolution of the US Gaming Landscape, which has a great chance to innovate itself and engage young adults and millennials effectively through, digital social engagement and entertainment.
Sports Integrity has been a key debated topic in the US media and Ludovico presented GLMS and its mission to the audience, pointing out the need for a clear and sustainable US sports integrity policy and urged for cooperation among all private and public stakeholders.
