GLMS issues updated Statutes
Lausanne, September 29, 2020 – New membership categories to reflect the evolving specific challenges faced by the global sports integrity community
Updated text makes space for more effecive collaboration for stakeholders with lotteries
Following the recent GLMS General Meeting of individual lottery members that, due to COVID19, was forced to take place via written procedure, GLMS has updated its Statutes to reflect the evolution in the sport integrity domain, thus giving an opportunity for new types of co-operation amongst stakeholders in the fight against sport corruption by providing them a membership status and benefits from GLMS' numerous services.
Given the expansion of the domain of sports integrity in recent years and the need to take collective actions and responsibilities at a global level, GLMS, a non-profit association, and its member lotteries understand that it is becoming essential to be able to co-operate with other stakeholders to tackle effectively the phenomenon of sports corruption.
GLMS Statutes need to reflect various changes in the lottery world (i.e. lotteries acting as regulators, the opening of the US sports betting market) and its own evolution over the last five years, providing services of monitoring, analyses, legal implementation and research, education, prevention and project-involvement.
This is imperative to stay on course in its mission to become the most credible and respected entity worldwide in the fight against sports manipulations and the safeguard of Sport Integrity and Values, co-operating with public and private stakeholders globally.
Therefore, following a careful in-depth study and evaluation by the GLMS Executive Committee, as well as by the collective founding members, European Lotteries and World Lottery Association and voted upon by the GLMS Individual lottery members, the GLMS Statutes were modified in September 2020.
Moving forward, current and future partnerships have the opportunity to be embedded within the DNA membership of the association as associate members to ensure that there is a two-way exchange and maximum benefit in sport integrity efforts and the services of GLMS. GLMS membership engages stakeholders to understand that they are part of an association, the GLMS family, sharing its mission, vision and values through strategic activities and its Code of Conduct and Statutes.
