At the 13th General Meeting of the World Lottery Association (WLA), held this past Wednesday November 21 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Rebecca Paul Hargrove, President and CEO of the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation, was unanimously elected President of the WLA. She succeeds outgoing WLA President Jean-Luc Moner-Banet, Director General of Switzerland’s Société de la Loterie de la Suisse Romande.
Lausanne, 14 November 2018: The Global Lottery Monitoring System (GLMS) and the European Union’s law enforcement agency, Europol, signed today in The Hague a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement will see the two entities share information and be in constant consultation over sport competition manipulations and related organised crime investigations. GLMS and Europol will also cooperate in running joint activities and implementing relevant projects, notably in the field of education and capacity building.
GLMS, the International Olympic Committee and Argentinian officials discuss risks related to illegal sports betting and sport competition manipulations
Buenos Aires, 21 November 2018, In a press conferences jointly organised by the Global Lottery Monitoring System (GLMS) and the Association of Argentinian Lotteries (ALEA), a series of high level speakers discussed issues related to illegal sports betting regulation and sport competition manipulations in Argentina, a country that has experienced over the last months a number of relevant scandals, notably in tennis.
Lausanne, 11 October 2018: The Global Lottery Monitoring System (GLMS) and Victoria Police have decided to join forces and share information regarding irregular betting patterns in order to detect and prevent sports betting manipulations in Australian sport. GLMS will be providing Victoria Police with information on irregular betting patterns or insider betting that is taking place in connection with sport competitions throughout Australia.
