The WLA and European Lotteries Sports Betting Seminar, held on 20-21 May in Istanbul, Turkey, explored key topics, including: anti money laundering (AML) compliance, prediction markets, AI in sports betting, combating illegal operators and key trends from the 2025 Global Sports Betting Outlook. Moderated by Luca Esposito, WLA Executive Director, and Mélissa Jacquérioz, EL Senior Sustainability and Membership Officer, the event attracted over 90 participants from 25 countries, of which a third were outside of Europe.

The Special Edition Magazines offer a roundup of articles on key topics that affect the regulated lottery and sports betting industry.

In an environment where regulators are more demanding, public scrutiny is higher, and illegal operators are increasingly aggressive — the regulated lotteries and state-licensed operators must demonstrate, not just declare, that player protection is embedded into their governance, operations, and culture.

The WLA has published the 12th Edition of the Global Lottery Data Compendium, available at publications.world-lotteries.org in the Statistics and Data section.

The 2025 WLA Annual Review is available on the WLA Resource and Information hub. It highlights the many milestones achieved by the Executive Committee, WLA Committees and head office, during the second year of rolling out the new strategy initiatives.

As we start the new year, we look ahead to our industry's landmark event, the World Lottery Summit. The WLA and host lottery The Lottery Corporation look forward to welcoming all attendees to WLS 2026, which will take part in the stunning city of Sydney, at the iconic Darling Harbour, from 9-12 November.
